Yum. I bought myself a brand new pair of Docs. Alas, I couldn’t get the 20 or 15 eye ones I wanted, as they did not fit my calves, but I got pair that comes over my ankles and are very hot.
However, we’re at the breaking in process now, which sucks. I’m pretty sure some of ya’ll have boots of your own, and perhaps some of you are boot-blacks. I was wondering what you did to help in the breaking in of your Doc’s or other boots.
I was told by the girl in the store that some people shower in them (which seems awkward) and other soak their socks in rubbing alcohol and wear them with the boots, which seems oddly smelly.
Now, I know little about boots or boot care, so I figured I’d ask before I did anything stupid.
Thanks guys!
Pictures to follow later. :)

I’ve heard of the water thing before. I’ve also heard of using saddle soap or mink oil to help soften the leather. Hope you find a solution that makes your feet happy.

Oh dudh!@ I forgot about saddle soap! I’m heading to Duane Reade to get a few things any way, maybe they’ll have some.

okay with leather less is always more.
To start with dont use anything special to break the boot in if you want to get a better fit to your foot then soak the book in water then pour out the water and after getting as much loose water off wear the boot as it dries.
DO NOT EVER dry leather thats wet by putting it next to a hot object like a radiator, heat will cause the leather to dry to fast and cause it to split and crack.
